Coconut water is a nature made electrolyte drink which has a nutritional composition that is ideal for our body and they are available in easily absorbable forms. It has the right balance of salts such as sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium etc and sugars. Our body absorbs salt only in the presence of sugar molecules, for this reason commercially made hydrating drinks contain added sugars.   2. Coconut Water is high in sugar : Coconut water contains low amounts of carbohydrates when compared to fruits juices and other drinks. 1 Cup of coconut water contains only 8.9 gm of carbohydrates ( Sugar – 6.3gm, Fiber – 2.6gm).
  3. Coconut Water is not an ideal hydrating drink : It is an ideal hydrating drink for people who are involved in mild to moderate exercise, but it does not suit individuals who involve prolonged duration of sports or exercise. During strenuous exercise the body loses electrolytes such as sodium, potassium and other salts via sweat, which has to be replaced as early as possible.
